Great American State Fair

Akoya worked with the Department of Energy’s Office of Public Affairs and our subcontractor ICF to develop DOE’s booth at the 16-day Great American State Fair on the National Mall. The booth was a massive undertaking that included developing a timeline on the history of U.S. energy; 8 display banners on DOE, NNSA and the Genesis Mission; and an interactive kiosk highlighting the National Laboratories, while also coordinating with hundreds of volunteer staffers and with the National Labs to obtain artifacts from the Manhattan Project, their more recent inventions, and robot dogs for display. While nothing was ever easy (including getting AC ahead of the 105-degree days!), we heard very positive feedback from visitors, volunteers, and DOE leadership—including Secretary Wright, who called it spectacular.
